Naman Gupta

I want to join a small infra team at a startup where the engineering bar is high and one person can own a system end-to-end.

Software Developer · Vegapay Technology (Elevation Capital-backed card & lending infrastructure) · Jan 2025 – present · 1 yr 7 mos backend · Bangalore · Java / Spring Boot / Kafka / PostgreSQL / Redis / AWS

I'm a backend engineer at Vegapay shipping credit-card infrastructure — pipelines, reporting services, APIs for regulated financial data. Before that: BITS Pilani, ICPC, 35+ alphas on AlphaVerse, and a research stint at Université Laval. I write Spring Boot the way most people write CRUD — and I'm happiest when there is a real correctness constraint on the other side.

Owns a system end-to-end

At Vegapay I owned the reporting service from system design through production rollout. No PM, no second engineer — just the constraint and the deadline.

02

Treats correctness as a feature

Regulated financial data and 35+ live alphas trained me to think out-of-sample first. "Looks great in dev" is the same shape as "looks great in-sample."

03

Builds the boring tool too

QA automation cut Vegapay regression time 95% and unlocked fully automated releases. Glue work is part of the job; I don't wait for someone else to do it.

  • Available

A 60-minute intro call. Any timezone. Call or email — both reach me directly.

  • First 30 days

Read the codebase. Ship one production change in the first week — small and reversible. By day 30, own a pipeline or service that I would have been pulled into on day 10 anyway.

  • What I'm looking for

Seed → Series B with a real engineering culture. Backend / infra / data-systems work. Remote (US/EU) or Bangalore. I want technical mentors and I want the autonomy to make decisions that aren't trivially reversible.

  • What I'm not

Not a frontend specialist. Not chasing prestige logos. Not the right hire if the team is more than 80 engineers — I'd rather be one of fifteen than one of fifty.

Four things worth talking about

Systems and research I've owned end-to-end — outcomes first, with the stack and shape of each. Argus is open source; the rest I'm happy to walk through on a call.

Vegapay Credit Platform — CCMS, Reporting & Ingestion

Architect, Backend
10K+ TPS100M+ txns / month99.99% availability↓80% latency → 30ms

Backend on a multi-tenant credit platform running 10K+ TPS and 100M+ transactions a month at 99.99% availability. Own the Credit Card Management System and the REST/SOA layers that standardize responses across core transaction processors and third-party backends. Architected a reporting service end-to-end — system design, data modeling, implementation — plus the pipeline that ingests client CSVs over SFTP through Chronos and Kafka into Postgres and S3. Kafka reconciliation workflows hold consistency under concurrent load via message ordering and account-level locking. Drove initial request latency down ~80% to 30ms.

Argus — LLM inference logging

Full-stack, solo
SDK → Kafka → PostgresMulti-provider47 testsPublic repo

A logging system for LLM calls, built as four pieces that only make sense together: a Python SDK that wraps any provider client without blocking it and masks PII before anything leaves the process; a Django 5 / Django Ninja ingestion API taking batched envelopes; Kafka partitioned by session id with manual commits and a dead-letter topic; and a React dashboard reading Postgres — latency percentiles, cost by model, token usage, error bursts, plus an SSE live tail straight off the topic. The framing was that an inference log is evidence: it has to survive the process that produced it. Runs on one docker compose command, seeded with a week of telemetry so the dashboards have something to show immediately.
